National Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week
Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week is an observance that pays tribute to local, state and federal peace officers who have died or who have been disabled in the line of duty. The Memorial takes place on May 15th each year and Police Week is the week in which the Memorial falls. In honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th, you will see the flags at City Hall flying at half staff.
Police Officers Memorial Day and Police Week event is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police. Some additional events during Police Week include the annual Blue Mass, Candlelight Vigil, Wreath Laying Ceremony, Honor Guard Competition and the Emerald Society and Pipe Band March and Service all held in the nation's capital, Washington D.C.
