The role of education in the community of West Wendover, receives the highest priority as West Wendover continues on its path of a place to raise a family. In today’s competitive world, education demands the highest standards possible and the greatest commitment from a community. West Wendover is fortunate to have strong support for this endeavor from the Elko County School District, the State of Nevada and Great Basin Community College.

West Wendover ’s own Primary Education has been in existence for less than a decade. Prior to 1996, the Elementary age children of Wendover , Utah and West Wendover , Nevada were educated in West Wendover and the Junior/Senior High School Students were educated in Wendover , Utah . Since 1996, The Elko County School District has charted a new course for West Wendover to ensure high standards and high learning capabilities for its children. With new state of the art facilities, grounds, faculty and administration, the independent school system of West Wendover though young, has been no obstacle for the community in producing and excelling in the education of its children. Combined with the commitment of the State of Nevada , which is ranked among the highest in the nation for dollars spent per student, along with the county school district and the local community, the students of West Wendover Elementary and Junior/Senior High Schools can look forward to a bright future full of possibilities. Along with academic achievements, West Wendover Schools have been high achievers in athletics and other extra curricular activities as an example, being the State 2A Football Champions in 2002.
