Streets

The City of West Wendover has over 15
miles of centerline public streets and over 8 miles of private streets.
Public Streets are maintained by the City’s Public Works Department.
The City has adopted standards for public works construction that
include public rights of way improvements. The City has five street
classifications: Lanes, residential, collector, arterial and major
arterial. The City street system is not the typical grid system.
Though a street grid system can make locating specific addresses
quite easy, we believe that constructing streets to be more in-tune
with the geography/topography of our area, provides a more aesthetically
pleasing look as well as providing potentially better traffic flows
for high volume areas.
An appropriate maintenance
program is an important part to the use and life of a street but
is only a plan unless implemented. The City Public Works crews
throughout the year implement the City's plan through proper sealing,
sweeping and repair work all of which, if left unattended, can have
a detrimental effect on pavements.
