Michelle arrived in West Wendover with her family in 1996. She worked for the West Wendover area Peppermill Casino Group for two years then moved to the corporate office in Reno. After only a few years she returned to West Wendover as Montego Bay’s Comptroller, a job she held for ten years. Then in January of 2012 Michelle took on a new opportunity when she was chosen to become the City's new Chief Financial Officer. Over the next six years she diligently did her work first learning the ropes of municipal finance and then applying her background and skills successfully on behalf of the City.
When asked if she might ever return to the Wendover area again, she replied “The people and the friends are what made it so easy to come back to the first time, and I have learned never say never.” As she was asked what she will take from her time here in West Wendover and what she will miss the most, she replied, "I will always be tied to Wendover, all the people I worked with and the communities many great assets like the Historic Wendover Airfield." But in true blue Michelle Mexican Food Guru response she continued with a big smile... "and I will miss the Metro the most."
Michelle has been involved in local committees and boards over the eighteen years she spent in the West Wendover area including the West Wendover Recreation District where she served as a Board Member. All she has given with her knowledge and her time, will certainly ensure that she will not soon be forgotten.
Best of Luck Michelle on your new adventures!
