New Chief Financial Officer Takes Oath of Office
At the Regular City Council Meeting of January 15th, the city’s new Chief Financial Officer Debbie Sanchez took her oath of office from Mayor Daniel Corona.
Debbie comes to the city with over 30 years of experience in government financial management and accounting. Her career has included serving as Financial Director for several cities including Clearfield (UT), North Ogden (UT) , Mesquite (NV) and Mapleton (UT).
Mrs. Sanchez was chosen for the position out of a dozen candidates who participated in the city’s CFO selection process over the last several months. “We are pleased to have Debbie on board and as a part of our team here at the City of West Wendover”, said City Manager Chris Melville. “Her previous experience makes her a perfect fit for the city and she is very excited about getting to work, being part of our progress as a city and refreshing herself with public finance in Nevada.”
When asked about her new position with West Wendover Debbie said, “I really appreciate the small town charm of West Wendover which is one of the reasons I took the opportunity to work for the city. My family and friends visit the community often for concerts, golfing, and gambling, and with numerous years of governmental experience as a finance director it really was the perfect choice for me.”
A big welcome to you and your family Debbie. We would ask everyone to please say hello when seeing Debbie and her family around town; at the store, the post office, etc., giving her a peak of just how close knit a community we are.
