Subject: Traffic Stop/Drug Trafficking Case

Date/Time of Occurrence:  02/19/2022       9:09 p.m.

Location:  101 W. Wendover Blvd., West Wendover, Nevada

Summary:

A West Wendover (NV) Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Volvo S60 with Utah license plates for traffic violations. During the stop, the officer suspected drug activity. A West Wendover Police K-9 Unit arrived, and the handler deployed his K-9 partner on the vehicle. K-9 Officer “Vigo” indicated the presence of illicit narcotics. After further investigation, the officers discovered approximately 2.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 54 grams of suspected heroin and 11 grams of suspected cocaine in the vehicle. Officers also found drug paraphernalia, prescription drugs, a handgun and over $5,000.00 in cash. The combined street value of the illicit drugs is estimated over $20,000. Two suspects were arrested and booked into Elko County Jail on numerous drug trafficking and possession charges.

1.  Jeremy Smith, DOB 08/02/1985; Resides in Sandy, Utah

2.  Alicia Longtin, DOB 07/12/1992; Resides in Minnesota.           

Chief of Police Cal Kunz Comment:

Our officers did a great job stopping these illegal drugs from entering our community. When we keep large quantities of drugs from coming into our city, we reduce the negative impact they have.

The West Wendover Police Department will continue its increased efforts to intercept illicit narcotics and arrest drug traffickers. We have two well trained narcotics detection K-9 units as well as several officers that have specialized training to spot drug trafficking activity.
