Post Date:10/25/2023 11:03 AM

TA Story FinalThe City issued the building permits for the TA Truck Stop and the Black Bear Diner on Wednesday October 24th.   This overall project by LV Petroleum and KB Wendover LLC which are headquartered in Las Vegas will begin with extensive excavation of the project site which is located on the north side of Interstate 80 at Exit 410, removing approximately 300,000 yards of earth and rock to make way for the project.

The project entails two separate commercial facilities.  The first is construction of an approximate 14,000 square foot TA Truck Stop which includes a C-store and (2) fast food restaurants (Bojangles and Del Taco) along with two fuel islands one for semi-trucks and the other for automobiles.   As well there will be acres of parking area which will be developed with the project to accommodate the related semi and auto traffic.

The second commercial component is construction of a 5,000 square foot Black Bear Diner to be located on an adjacent parcel.

The overall project also includes the construction of Leppy Hills Boulevard which will replace the existing Frontage Road and an extension to N. Florence Way.  These improvements include not only street pavement but lighting, curb, gutter, sidewalk and related utilities which are all part of the necessary public/civil improvements for the projects.

When asked about the project West Wendover Mayor Holm said, “I am very excited to see this project get their permits and get underway.  The project has the potential of bringing even more businesses to the north side of Exit 410 in the future.  It is wonderful for our community to see more jobs and growth…as our city motto says “Come Grow With Us”.

LV Petroleum acquired in total 60 acres on the north side of Exit 410 about two years ago and thereafter initiated the development approval process for this Phase 1 (24 acre) development with the city.  The project is more than a $30 million business and civil facilities investment in West Wendover which will bring more than 100 construction jobs into the community as well as more than 50 direct and indirect long-term jobs.  Excavation work will begin in the next few weeks followed eventually by site construction with the projects expected completion at the end of 2024.
