Miguel Esparza 10 year service award copyOn February 27th, City Manager Chris Melville presented Public Works Technician 2, Miguel Esparza with his 10-year service award.

Miguel, affectionately known as “Cheese” began his career with the City in February of 2014 as a Public Works Technician 1.   Just over to years later in June of 2016 he received a promotion to the position of Public Works Technician 2, the position he holds today.  The Public Works Technician 2 position covers many skills from cement work and block laying to repair and replacement work related to water and sewer utility main lines as well as areas of general building construction and inspection work for city facilities.  The position requires the operation of a broad range of vehicles and equipment including backhoes, motor graders, excavators, dump trucks as well as various commercial and residential garbage trucks.   The position requires a Class A CDL due to the use of semi tractor trailer operations.

When asked by City Manager Melville what his favorite part of his job is, Cheese responded with a wide smile, “I enjoy everything, from the point of getting up in the morning and coming into work to all of the various tasks I do each and every day, it is never exactly the same; I love my job”.

Those remarks are indicative of Cheese, Melville said, he approaches his work with a positive attitude and enjoys accomplishing each day the tasks at hand.  He is part of our great city team, and we need to keep him around for at least another 20 years.

In addition to his service plaque, Cheese also received a service pin designed with the City Seal.  The pin reflects the employee's years of service with a star for every five years served.  As well, he received a $25 Smith's Food Store Gift Card.

Congratulations Cheese, keep up the good work!
