Post Date:04/17/2024 10:58 AM

B.Hillaker Oath with Judge QuirkAt the City Council Meeting of April 16th, the City Council selected through appointment Brad Hillaker to be the next West Wendover Chief of Police.

Brad began his career in law enforcement with the City in October 2001 as a Police Officer followed by a promotion in August 2008 as Police Sergeant.   In January of 2019 Brad was promoted to Detective/Sergeant 2 and November of that same year he was selected to become the Police Lieutenant under former Chief Cal Kunz who retired from law enforcement this past March.

City Manager Melville said of the appointment, "Mayor and Council were clear that Brad with his long-term commitment to the community and the Police Department and the City organization on whole was the right choice.  I personally have been fortunate to be a witness as City Manager to his hard work and dedication as he has come up through the ranks over the past 22 years.  I have had the privilege of working alongside 6 other Chiefs of Police for West Wendover and so I am quite proud to see Brad now become the Chief and lead the Department.  Undoubtedly our Elected Officials were very pleased at the opportunity to appoint him as someone from within the organization and they have every confidence as I do that he will continue on his course as a leader in the City and the community which he is very committed to."

Congratulations Chief Hillaker!
