At the Regular City Council Meeting of May 7^th Mayor Jasie Holm gave the Oath of Office to West Wendover Police Officer Favian Castaneda.  

Officer Castaneda came to West Wendover from Texas in 2021 when he was hired as the West Wendover Librarian.  In 2022 he pursued his interests in the medical field taking a position with Nevada Health Centers while also joining the West Wendover Fire Department as a Part Time Fire Fighter.  In 2023 he decided to pursue his interests in law enforcement, applying for an open police officer position with the West Wendover Police Department; he was hired in June of that year.  

Officer Castaneda graduated Nevada POST law enforcement academy in November of 2023 and is an important member of the City’s law enforcement team.    When asked what he enjoys most about being a Police Officer he remarked, “One of the best parts of joining law enforcement is being able to make an impact on a community and helping be the change the community needs.”
