Wendover Prevention Group AgreementThe City and the Wendover Prevention Group (WPG), a 501(c)(3) Nevada Domestic Non Profit Corporation have entered into a funding agreement wherein WPG will receive annual funding from the City to provide the community with services related to drugs and alcohol awareness, education and abstinence including opioid misuse, abuse and prevention.

Some of the services which WPG will assist in the community include but are not limited to:  Education to school-based and youth-focused programs that discourage or prevent misuse; funding for media campaigns to prevent opioid use; funding evidence based prevention programs; funding community drug disposal programs; training for first responders, schools, community support groups and families regarding opioid misuse, abuse, addiction, etc.

The funding is provided by the City through the disbursements it receives from the One Nevada Settlement Agreement.  This agreement is an intrastate allocation agreement with all the state’s counties and litigating cities, of which West Wendover was a part, to provide a mechanism for the allocation of any opioid-related settlement funds in the state.   Currently the City receives approximately $15,000 annually in funds from various settlement agreements which have been completed.
