On Monday February 10th, two city employees received their 5-year service awards from City Manager Chris Melville.
Jasmin Mendoza Perez began her employment with the city in late 2019 as a Police Dispatcher before transferring in 2022 to a position in the Municipal Court where she started as a Deputy Court Clerk 1. Just a short two years later in 2024 Jasmin was promoted to Deputy Court Clerk 3, a supervisory position which she holds today where she applies her team building skills and abilities to help the Court operate efficiently and effectively.
Sydney Merritt began her service to the community in October of 2019 as a part time Firefighter for which she is being recognized today. In addition to being a Firefighter in 2021 Sydney also became a full time Police Dispatcher. Thus, she is literally in a position of doubling her efforts, helping people and being part of a great team that saves lives.
City Manager Melville commented, "The commitment these two individuals have shown to their community is not surprising in the least. Though the public may not be direct witness to their work day in and day out, they do their jobs knowing that the impact they make provides for a better team at the city and ultimately a better community. I greatly appreciate the dedication, skill and thoughtfulness of their service which they bring each day to their work and to the comradery they develop with those around them."
In addition to their service plaques, Jasmin and Sydney also received service pins designed with the City Seal. The pins reflect the employee's years of service with a star for every five years they have served. As well, they each received a $50 Smith's Food Store Gift Card.
Congratulations Jasmin and Sydney, great work!
