This week City Manager Chris Melville provided 10-year service awards to two great employees: Deputy Community Development Director Cutter Love and Police Sergeant Alejandro Sanchez.
Cutter Love began his employment with the city on April 7, 2015 as a Police Officer. His commitment to the community, one which he grew up in, didn’t go unnoticed. In late 2023 City Manager Melville, who is also the city’s Community Development Director, began recruiting Cutter for a new role and position which had been created, the city’s Deputy Community Development Director. Understandably, the decision to leave his law enforcement career and his brothers and sisters in blue was not easy for Cutter, but after some careful consideration and a little soul searching sprinkled with what some may have called severe arm twisting by the City Manager, Cutter made the move to take on this new challenge and role to serve the community in a new way. He has been serving since February 2024 as the Deputy Community Development Director.
Alejandro Sanchez began his career with the city on April 20, 2015 as a Police Officer, a position which he excelled at. His work and commitment to the community did not go unnoticed and in December of 2019, he was promoted to Police Sergeant the position he holds today leading a cadre of other Officers. As well, Sergeant Sanchez in the past also served as one of our Police Department K-9 Handlers serving alongside K-9 Officer “Vigo” who was retired in early 2024.
City Manager Melville remarked, “It is always a pleasure to be able to provide these awards to our employees who take their roles and responsibilities seriously and who serve at length for the community. I wish these two fine gentlemen continued success in their careers and have hope that their personal goals are fulfilled as well, serving with honor and distinction the people of West Wendover.”
In addition to their service plaques, Cutter and Alejandro also received service pins designed with the City Seal. The pins reflect the employee's years of service with a star for every five years they have served. As well, they each received a $50 Smith's Food Store Gift Card.
Congratulations Cutter and Alejandro!
