This past week three city employees received their service awards from City Manager Chris Melville.
Toni Corona, 25 years. Toni began her career with the city in July of 2000 as a Police Department Administrative Clerk. In October of 2013 she was promoted to PD Administrative Assistant and then in 2021 received an additional promotion to PD Office Manager overseeing the Police Department administrative functions and related personnel.
Amber Dehn, 25 years. Amber began working for the city in July 2000 as a Public Works Grounds Keeper. She transferred to Waste Water operations as a Waste Water Operator 1 in 2003 and was promoted in 2014 to Waste Water Operator 2. In 2021 Amber received another promotion to Waste Water Operator 3, a supervisory position, which oversees the crew at our Waste Water facilities.
Fernando Uribe, 10 years. Fernando hired on as a Police Officer in July of 2015. In 2023 he received a promotion to Police Sergeant the position he holds today supervising a regular crew of our Police Officers who have rotating shifts providing 24/7 police coverage to the community. Additionally, Sergeant Uribe has been one of several officers within the Department to also be a certified K-9 Handler.
“It is a pleasure to see these individuals continue to excel as members of our great team here at the City of West Wendover”, said City Manager Melville. “All three are dedicated professionals who serve the community well, many times behind the scenes with no accolades. However, these service plaques are just one small way to ensure they know how important I and the City believe their service is and to recognize not just their longevity, but the achievements they make along the way.”
In addition to their service plaques, Toni, Amber and Fernando also received service pins designed with the City Seal. The pins reflect the employee's years of service with a star for every five years they have served. As well, they each received a $50 Smith's Food Store Gift Card.
A big congratulations to Toni, Amber and Fernando, thank you for your service!
