Raul Naranjo 25 Year Service Award copyThis past week Raul Naranjo, Public Works Direct, received his 25-year service awards from City Manager Chris Melville.

Raul joined the city team in September of 2000 as a Waste Water Operator 1 working at the city’s waste water treatment facility off of U.S. 93A.  In 2007 he was promoted to Waste Water Operator 3 and in 2016 was chosen by former Public Works Director Bryce Kimber to receive a promotion to Utility Operations Manager where his duties included overseeing all waste water and water utility operations.

With the retirement of former Public Works Director Bryce Kimber, Raul received an appointment by former Mayor Corona in 2020 to become the city’s newest Public Works Director.  That decision was confirmed by a unanimous vote of the City Council.

Raul continues to serve as the city’s Laboratory Director for the Wastewater Laboratory and holds various certifications including:  Wastewater Operator IV, Water Distribution Operator 3, Laboratory Quality Analyst 1 and others.   Raul leads by example a great team of 17 dedicated employees who serve the city and community each and every day; everything from garbage service to maintaining public infrastructure including streets, waterlines, sewer facilities, city landscaping as well as the maintaining and upkeep of several city buildings.

In addition to his service plaque Raul also received a service pin designed with the City Seal.  The pin reflects the employee’s years of service with a star for every five years they have served.  As well, he received a $50 Smith’s Food Store Gift Card.

Thank you, Raul, for your great dedication and work and congratulations on 25 years of service!
