The City of West Wendover officially ushered in the holiday season with “Wendover in Lights” the Annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday December 5th. The event was held at the West Wendover City Hall located at 1111 N. Gene L. Jones Way.
Deputy Community Development Director Cutter Love opened the program with energy and warmth. Mayor Jasie Holm followed with a heartfelt welcome, sharing the City’s excitement as the community enters the holiday season.
The program featured the countdown of lighting the City’s Christmas Tree. Joined by enthusiastic children, Mr. Love led the moment as Santa’s elves, assisted by city staff, and perhaps a touch of holiday magic, brought the tree to life in brilliant color.
The West Wendover Elementary School 3rd Grade Choir, led by music teacher Ms. Heather Brown, delivered a delightful performance for families and attendees. They performed three wonderful holiday songs, including “Just One Candle”, “Noche Buena” and It’s a Holiday”. Their performance concluded with a cheerful community sing-along of “Santa Clause is Coming to Town”, filling the chamber with voices of all ages.
The most magical moment was saved for last. Santa Claus made a grand entrance, arriving by sleigh at City Hall. Children eagerly lined up to share their Christmas wishes, take photos, and receive a stocking filled with treats along with a delicious orange.
The Mayor, City Council and City Employees wish the entire community a warm, bright, and joyful Holiday Season!
