During the Regular Council Meeting of April 7th, two local students were recognized for their excellent achievements through the Wendover Prevention Group’s Youth Recognition Awards Program.
Fletcher Smith from West Wendover Middle School. Fletcher accepted his award in person. Fletcher received the award for his many leadership qualities and his positive impact on his peers and community. He demonstrated his leadership qualities within his religious community by accepting important responsibilities that ensured services functioned efficiently. He also brings happiness and supports his friends.
Lindsey Wahlstrom from West Wendover High School. Lindsey was unable to attend, her award was provided to her by Gunnar Carter, WPG Coalition Co-coordinator. Lindsey was recognized for her leadership and academic success. She is a strong supportive friend that is seen as a mentor. She also participates in after-school activities while excelling in her academics.
They both received a certificate and several gifts, including a $50 gift card from the Tooele County Health Department, two buffet tickets from Peppermill Properties, a haircut coupon from Hair by Traci, and swag. Congratulations!
The Youth Recognition Award is a quarterly program designed to highlight local youth for positive contributions. Nominations can be based on a variety of qualities, including academic achievements, community involvement, service-mindedness, resilience, acts of kindness, or other meaningful efforts.
Youth ages 10-18 are eligible for the award. Community members are encouraged to nominate outstanding youth by visiting the Wendover Prevention Group Facebook page, contacting any WPG board members, or emailing Deeanna Croasmun at deeanna.croasmun@tooeleco.gov.
