At the Regular City Council Meeting of April 21, Judge Kenneth R. Quirk conducted an oath of office ceremony for two new lateral police officers of the West Wendover Police Department.
As lateral hires, both officers bring years of law enforcement experience to West Wendover, enabling them to transition quickly to patrol duties and contribute immediately to the department’s public safety mission.
Officers Juan Solaresmejia and Officer Kaydn Sharp both have previous law enforcement experience in the State of Utah. Officer Solaresmejia has previously served with the Unified Police Department in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has completed his training, is certified as a Nevada Peace Officer, and is currently assigned to patrol.
Officer Sharp has previously served with Tooele Police Department in Tooele, Utah, where he held the rank of Corporal. He has completed his training, is certified as a Nevada Peace Officer, and is currently assigned to patrol.
West Wendover Chief of Police Brad Hillaker said, “These officers arrive with valuable experience and a demonstrated commitment to professional policing. Their addition enhances our ability to provide the high level of police service that our residents expect and deserve.”
During the ceremony, the officers took their oath of office, affirming their commitment to upholding the Constitution, enforcing the laws of the State of Nevada, and serving the community with integrity, professionalism, pride, and service.
