This week City Manager Chris Melville provided 10-year service awards to Lieutenant Miguel Pantelakis and Officer Tomas Ramirez, as well as a 5-year service award to Firefighter Sydney Merritt.

Miguel Pantelakis began his employment with the City on April 13, 2016 as a Police Officer. His dedication to the community and commitment to public safety did not go unnoticed. In December of 2019, Miguel was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant and continued to distinguish himself through his leadership and professionalism. On May 20, 2024, he was promoted to Lieutenant, the position he holds today, helping lead the Police Department and mentor the next generation of officers.

Tomas Ramirez began his career with the City on July 28, 2014 as a Police Officer. After leaving City employment on July 8, 2018, Tomas returned to the Police Department on April 13, 2020 as a Police Officer, the position he continues to hold today. Since his return, Tomas has remained committed to serving the community and carrying out the important responsibilities of law enforcement with professionalism and dedication.

Sydney Merritt began her service to the community on October 16, 2019 as a volunteer part-time Firefighter. In May of 2021, she joined the City as a Police Dispatcher, where she played an important role in supporting both emergency responders and the public. On January 26, 2026, Sydney transferred to the Fire Department as a Firefighter, allowing her to continue her passion for serving the community in a direct and meaningful way. She currently serves in that position today.

In addition to their service plaques, Miguel, Tomas, and Sydney also received service pins designed with the City Seal. The pins reflect the employee's years of service with a star for every five years they have served. As well, they each received a $50 Smith's Food Store Gift Card.
